To kick off the start of Chinese New Year (Feb. 19), the NBA tapped some familiar faces to ring in the Year of the Goat.
In the league’s latest spot, a lucky Chinese family gets a surprise visit from Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, the Houston Rockets’ James Harden, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Jeremy Lin, the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade and the Chicago Bulls mascot for some dumplings and a good ol’ game.
The festivities won’t stop there as a record 56 live games will be broadcasted and streamed in Greater China, showcasing 27 of the NBA’s 30 teams, from Feb. 19 to March 4. Consider it a major “Thank You” from the league to its largest international fan base in China, the U.S. and across the globe.
“Chinese New Year is a time of joyful family reunion and provides an occasion for us to share in the festivities by delivering the excitement of the NBA right into the homes of our fans,” said NBA China CEO David Shoemaker in a press release. “We truly appreciate the support of our Chinese fans, and we are thrilled to tip off our NBA Chinese New Year Celebration Season of Giving by dedicating a new basketball court in Fujian Province.”
Before the spot premieres in the U.S. this Friday (Feb. 20) during the Spurs vs. Warriors game on ESPN, peep the full commercial and the blooper reel below.
