Today, September 3, Nike has released “Open Court with Serena” an exclusive conversation with the superstar tennis champion. Interviewed by star of Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, Storm Reid, the program aims to inspire the next generation of athletes, especially young women. With so much going on in the world where focus is hard to maintain, Williams offers great insight on themes like confidence, health and the power of sisterhood. “I’m the youngest of five,” she states proudly. “So, for me it was always just about almost even learning from them, learning from their mistakes and not making the same.”
For the next 24 hours Open Court will be available for view by Nike members. The session will be available for all on Nike’s social channels soon after the exclusive time expires. In the meantime, Williams is in the mist of securing her 24th major tourny championship in the 2020 US Open. Just this week, she became the all-time leader in matches won at the New York based Open.
For those that check the Nike program also note that it delves into a fully digital, interactive experience with a one-of-a-kind platform that features a virtual tennis game, custom design generator and how to find local community resources and how to reserve courts in New York City through the Open Court platform. Watch the “You Can’t Stop Sisters” clip above to get a feel of the convo and where Williams is in her quest to empower women athletes. “I love being a leader, it also means being the first and that’s not always easy,” she says, yet Williams makes it look effortless.
