The world watched in shock when Ronda Rousey’s undefeated title was tarnished by the hands of Holly Holm. In the first round of UFC 193, Rousey went down, and later suffered injuries that placed her on a six month medical suspension.
Now, it looks like hopes of a possible rematch between the dynamic athletes might arrive next summer. According to UFC president Dana White’s interview with the Los Angeles Times, the meeting of Rousey and Holm will reportedly take place on July 9 at UFC 200. However, Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez, said they’re unsure about Rousey’s health come July. “I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight,” he said. “She took a severe beating and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but…”
Rousey sounds ready to get back into the octagon with Holm, giving ESPN her first words after the loss. “I just feel so embarrassed,” she said. “How I fought after that is such an embarrassing representation of myself. I wasn’t even f**king there.”
Nothing has been confirmed from both camps, but it looks like they’ll meet again when the time is right.
