Serena Williams is often brought in conversation as one of the times most inspiring women and her new cover story only gives us more to love.
Interviewed by Melissa Harris-Perry for Glamour‘s June cover, Serena addresses a myriad of inspiring topics including her thoughts on unequal pay for women in athletics.
“Will I have to explain to my daughter that her brother is gonna make more money doing the exact same job because he’s a man? If they both played sports since they were three years old, they both worked just as hard, but because he’s a boy, they’re gonna give him more money? Like, how am I gonna explain that to her?”
The 34-year-old tennis titan also touches on how she felt about Drake being blamed for her 2015 U.S. Open loss. Harris-Perry reminded her Twitter ripped the Views rapper apart, saying he was a distraction. Williams responded she thinks it’s unfair and that no one is to blame for how she plays.
Worth noting? Williams doesn’t let being in her 30s stop her from winning, claiming she is a better player now then in her twenties.
