Uncle Snoop Dogg stopped by Super Bowl 50 media day to try his hand as a temporary guest correspondent during the Denver Broncos’ and Carolina Panthers’ respective interview slots to gear up players and fans alike for the big showdown on Sunday, Feb. 7.
The football fanatic, who hosts his own football related talk show, asked some of the big players from the Broncos and Panthers about their game plans and their daily lives. He also posed for a few pictures from the starstruck professional athletes.
“To be interviewed by Snoop, that’s really big,” said Denver receiver Emmanuel Sanders, according to USA Today.
Snoop’s biggest interviews came by way of the Broncos’ legendary QB Peyton Manning and the Panthers’ QB Cam Newton. He asked Manning if he could get a discount for Papa John’s pizza in Colorado (for which Manning is an investor in).
“Absolutely,” Manning said.
On a more serious note, Snoop asked if he was going to take advice from his ex-football player father Archie and brother Eli, who plays for the New York Giants.
“I had dinner with Eli the other night…” Manning replied. “We talk about the practice routine and kind of the set up, so he’s great to bounce ideas off of. My dad’s always been a great sounding board for me throughout my lifetime, and so I’m very grateful to have both of those guys…I feel very fortunate.”
He also asked Cam Newton at the Jaguars press day if the kid in him “outweighs” the man in him for the big game he’s going to play in.
“Half of me tries to be as professional as possible, but the human in me just wants to take it all in,” Newton responded. “All the festivities, the media, everything leading up…it’s hard not to take it all in. It’s a dream come true.”
Snoop also talked about three young fans in the audience who want footballs from Newton, so he told the athlete to “make their dreams come true” as well.
