United States Congressman Steve King joined NewsMax TV for an appearance Tuesday (Sept. 13), to discuss a multitude of hot-button topics, including the controversial Colin Kaepernick protest.
The 67-year-old Iowa representative said, “I think Colin Kaepernick is representing the San Francisco 49ers when he puts on that uniform. When he steps out on the stage, the world stage, he’s taking advantage of that, and he’s undermining patriotism. I understand that he has an Islamic girlfriend (Nessa Diab of Hot 97) that is his fiancee and that this has changed him and has taken on some different political views along the way. This is activism that’s sympathetic to ISIS.”

Last week (Sept. 7), the 49ers quarterback shot down rumors he had converted to Islam stemming from his relationship with Hot 97 radio and television personality, Nessa Diab. “I have great respect for the religion, know a lot of people that are Muslim and are phenomenal people,” Kaepernick said, according to USA Today. “But I think that comes along with people’s fear of this protest, as well as Islamophobia in this country.”
Several athletes joined Kaepernick in his national anthem protest across the NFL last weekend. Let’s see if additional players follow in Colin’s footsteps, as week two kicks off tonight (Sept. 15).
