January 4 will make one year ESPN and the world of sports said goodbye to Stuart Scott. The 49 year old who lost his hard-fought battle with cancer, became equally known for his sports intellect as well as his catchphrases, and has left behind an everlasting legacy.
To honor Scott, his daughters Taelor and Sydni were on hand to accept the Tar Heel Trailblazer award on behalf of their father. Along with the award, the UNC men’s basketball team teamed up with the Mu Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity to pay tribute to Scott. Scott pledged and became an Alpha during undergrad in 1984 while while attending UNC.
Wearing jerseys with Scott’s name and line number (Scott was a 7) the men performed a thrilling tribute to their ice cold brother.
