
According to reports, Barack and Michelle Obama‘s production company Higher Ground will be expanding. The former First Couple will reportedly be working with Spotify to “develop, produce, and lend their voices to select podcasts, connecting them to listeners around the world on wide-ranging topics.”
Vulture reports that aren’t any concrete details of the partnership’s projects, but they do write that the shows will be Spotify-exclusives through the Higher Ground company.
“This partnership is also the latest buzzy development in Spotify’s ongoing efforts to establish itself as a force in the podcast world,” the site explains of Spotify’s foray into the lucrative podcasting world. “Earlier this year, the company spent almost $400 million to acquire three podcast companies (Gimlet Media, Parcast, and Anchor).”
The Obamas secured a massive, multi-year deal with streaming giant Netflix in 2018. Through this particular partnership, there’s the possibility of scripted and unscripted series, features, docu-series and documentary films.
“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” Mr. Obama said in a statement regarding their new content creation journey.
