Producer icon Kaskade dropped his 10th studio album yesterday (Sept 10), Atmosphere. It sparked a cardinal curiosity about who the man behind the decks actually is. Despite having a revered career in EDM, Kaskade has still be able to keep a low profile and private life - that is until now. He was born on February 25, 1971 in Evanston, Illinois as Ryan Raddon.

His brother is entrepreneur and film producer Rich Raddon. Films include A Slipping-Down Life and Shooting Lily. He also co-founded MovieClips with investment banker Zach James.

At 19, he moved to Japan. There he served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He's a devout Mormon. Ryan doesn't drink and still goes to church in San Clemente, California. “I had some caramel corn and a Diet Coke before I went on.” (NYTimes)

While attending school at The University of Utah, he worked at a record store. Though the establishment is now closed, Ryan used to put in hours at a local record store called Mechanized.

His first DJ gig was at a basement venue called Club Manhattan. Ryan would also spin every Monday night while studying in Utah.

Ryan took his stage name ‘Kaskade’ from a nature book. "I was reading a nature book the night before and I was like, "Hey, man. I saw this picture of a waterfall and it said ‘cascade.’ What do you guys think of that?” I had thrown them out all these names and they were like, “Yeah, that sucks. That sucks,” and finally one kid was like, “No. ‘Cascade.’ I think that’ll work. Go with that.” And then I just spelled it different to be different. So there’s no cool story like my teenage dog was named Kaskade and got hit by a car." (Las Vegas Weekly)

Ryan met his wife, Naomi (Miranda) Raddon, while at school. They bonded over snowboarding. To this day they are still married and have three daughters.
