15 Shades: The Biggest Fails Of 2014

1
16

2
16
Who: Robin Thicke
What: Campaigning to get his lady, Paula Patton, back with the creepy, stalker-ish album Paula amidst accusations of misogyny and this Twitter Q&A
Redemption: Bailing on the public eye for a more secluded place, perfect for self-reflection and bans "Blurred Lines" from airwaves

3
16
Who: Taylor Swift
What: Dropping twerkers and rapping-with-a-boombox stance in her "Shake It Off" video
Redemption: While 1989 is actually considered a fire album by Swifties and other parts of the population, folks like Earl Sweatshirt couldn't shake the "cultural appropriation"

4
16
Who: Lifetime
What: Producing an atrocious Aaliyah biopic, complete with karaoke covers of Baby Girl's best and the most awkward R. Kelly storyline in recent history
Redemption: This Whitney flick (airing Jan. 17 at 8pm) doesn't look too shabby

5
16
Who: Sony
What: Getting their e-mails hacked, movies leaked and pulling James Franco and Seth Rogen's The Interview from theaters after being subjected to terrorist threats from North Korea
Redemption: The Internet now has The Interview and Idris Elba could play James Bond someday

6
16
Who: Bobby Shmurda and his GS9 squad
What: For making the world do the Shmoney dance only to get hauled off to jail because everything he rapped in "Hot Nigga" was basically, real life
Redemption: Mr. Shmurda could face up to 25 years of jail time if proven guilty of various conspiracy charges. Sir, get the bail shmoney and stay up out the traphouuuuseeeee

7
16
Who: The New York Knicks
What: Sucking so bad that the team had the worst start in NBA history with a current 5-28 record
Redemption: Not even a billion #Knickstape hashtags could save the 'Bockers from this devastating season. With new Prez Phil Jackson and new coach Derek Fisher, it seems like the triangle offense was just a mythical strategy to give Knicks Stans hope that this team could actually win games. Carmelo Anthony didn't take a $6 million pay cut for this, man

8
16
Who: Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson
What: Indicted on felony child abuse charges after beating his 4-year-old son with a switch
Redemption: While NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has suspended Peterson from playing, AP says his main focus is his son

9
16
Who: Justin Bieber
What: Pelting eggs at his neighbor's home, getting arrested for an alleged D.U.I. and drag racing in Miami Beach, getting arrested (again) for dangerous driving in his native Ontario, Canada, spazzing in a court deposition and singing the n-word
Redemption: Tell Selena Gomez how you really feel and leave the racial slurs out of it

10
16
Who: Iggy Azalea's Twitter
What: Whether getting attacked by Snoop Dogg memes or Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks shots, Iggy Igg's name was mentioned more times than necessary because of her timeline. Also see T.I. and Q-Tip's "Introduction To Hip Hop" tweets
Redemption: Bark back at the haters on wax, not silly characters

11
16
Who: Former Baltimore Ravens' running back Ray Rice
What: Knocking out his wife, Janay Rice, on an elevator at Atlantic City's Revel Casino
What (Part 2): Failing to apologize to his wife during their initial press conference
Redemption: None. Before singing his wife's praises on the TODAY Show, Janay defended the current free agent by using His Holiness. “I feel like there’s a silver lining in all of this," she told Matt Lauer. "I feel like God chose me and Ray for a reason, to bring awareness to what people are going through everyday. Even though it’s not what I’m going through everyday, it’s definitely brought this topic to the forefront. And we’re okay with that”

12
16
Who: The Carter-Knowles clan
What: Of course, sometimes shit go down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator but the Solangegate scandal switched up our perception of the picture-perfect family.
Redemption: Save a line from the "Flawless" remix and this statement, Beyonce, Jay Z and Solange continue to slay despite the viral PR hiccup and have set the standard for elevator scandals

13
16
Who: Bill Cosby
What: After comedian Hannibal Buress reminded us, the 70-year-old comic has sexual allegations (nearly 20 and counting) being flung at him like an Angry Bird
Redemption: None. Cosby's latest response to the allegations didn't help the cause either. Dr. Huxtable, where are you now?

14
16
Who: President Barack Obama
What: His second term was filled with more misses than hits. As The Atlantic points out, the Commander-in-Chief's disastrous handling of ObamaCare and noticeable lack of impactful immigration or financial reform has made him an unfavorable Head-of-State among critics. Ask Black Twitter, too, and they'll vividly recall his physical absence in Ferguson. His party also lost to the Senate in November.
Redemption: As leader of the Free World, Obama is the man with the hardest job in the globe. He still has a long way to go till he wraps up in January 2017.

15
16
Who: Former L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling
What: Uttering racial remarks in a phone call to his alleged mistress V. Stiviano
Redemption: Losing ownership in the Clippers and getting banned for life from the league by Commissioner Adam Silver

16
16
Who: U.S. Justice System
What: Failing to indict the officers responsible for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown
Redemption: Miss us with the harsh attacks on protesters or the self-defense BS. All lives matter
