The 20 Biggest Celebrity Social Media Fails Of 2013
December 3, 2013 - 4:11 pm
The Celebrity: Rick Ross
The Social Media Blunder: Referred to the continent of Africa as a "country" on Twitter in June. "Just landed in the beautiful country of Africa," he wrote. "I can tell you that the world is excited for #TheGifted."
Why It Was Such A Fail: The purpose of Rozay's tweet was to try and help promote Wale's new album, The Gifted. But unfortunately, the only thing that anyone remembered about the tweet was that it showed off the fact that Rick Ross isn't very good at geography.

The Celebrity: Havoc
The Social Media Blunder: Allowed someone to hack into his Twitter in June and post a bunch of photos of a naked man. The hacker also changed Havoc's Twitter bio to read, "Alcoholic Asshole. I get everyone pregnant and run. I also shit on everyone who has been there for me."
Why It Was Such A Fail: It's pretty obvious that someone out there really, really, really, really, really hates Hav. So he better do whatever it takes to make sure that person never gets hold of his Twitter password again. Because this hack job was an epic fail.

The Celebrity: Floyd Mayweather
The Social Media Blunder: Allowed someone on his team to poke fun at Oscar De La Hoya's stint in rehab by posting a meme on Instagram in September. The meme said, "I gave Canelo the wrong Blueprint I was high," on it and was posted a short time after Money May defeated De La Hoya's boxer Canelo Alvarez.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Mayweather sent out a genuine apology concerning the meme a few hours after it was posted. But he really needs to keep an eye on those who have access to his social media accounts. Because the meme that was posted should not have made it to his Instagram.

The Celebrity: Draya Michele
The Social Media Blunder: Created an #AskDraya hashtag on Twitter to help promote her appearance on BET's 106 & Park in June. The hashtag led to hundreds of Twitter users asking her crazy questions about the time she got arrested for leaving her young son home alone and unattended. An example: "Does your son say grace before eating his fingernails?"
Why It Was Such A Fail: Obviously, Draya did NOT expect people to respond so negatively to the #AskDraya hashtag. So rather than addressing legit questions on 106 & Park, she was forced to respond to her haters and critics on the show.

The Celebrity: Amanda Bynes
The Social Media Blunder: Sent out a tweet that said, "I want @drake to murder my vagina," on Twitter in March.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Do we even have to explain this one? Ms. Bynes said and did a lot of really stupid stuff on social media this year. But this was easily the worst, most vulgar thing that she did.

The Celebrity: J.R. Smith
The Social Media Blunder: Got called out by Rihanna on Instagram in May. In a comment that she posted to IG, Rih-Rih wrote, "fuck you and your wack ass team!! Nobody dont want that desert thirsty nigga!! He fucked up cus his ass be hungover from clubbing every night during the playoffs!!"
Why It Was Such A Fail: The Knicks guard is used to using social media to his advantage and giving the middle finger to anyone who dares to step to him. But after Rihanna said this about him—after a Knicks fan blamed her for the team's playoff loss to the Pacers—there was really not a whole lot to say. She got him good here.

The Celebrity: Gucci Mane
The Social Media Blunder: Beefed with, well, everyone on Twitter in September. Gucci took shots at Young Jeezy, T.I, Yo Gotti, Nicki Minaj, Drake, 2 Chainz, Eminem, and…you get the point. He later deleted his account and claimed he was hacked.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Gucci is no stranger to beefing with his fellow artists. But this was a new low, even for him. It took the focus off of his music and made him look like a maniac.

The Celebrity: Geraldo Rivera
The Social Media Blunder: Put a nearly-naked photo of himself on Twitter in July. The caption read, "70 is the new 50."
Why It Was Such A Fail: At the VERY least, he could have put a pair of shorts on before he took this photo. WTF?

The Celebrity: Chris Brown
The Social Media Blunder: Posted a photo of Jesus on Instagram in January along with the caption, "Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters!" He seemed to do it because of all the negative attention he was receiving for getting into a fight with Frank Ocean.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Breezy had to know this was going to end in controversy, didn't he? DIDN'T HE? Apparently not. But it did. And it forced him to close down his Instagram account for awhile. "Social media takes away the essence of why we are even special or icons," he wrote before he did. "So with that, I'm detaching myself from that world."

The Celebrity: Black Sheep's Dres
The Social Media Blunder: Called Kanye West gay on Twitter in June while comparing him to Steve Jobs. "Kanye…like Steve Jobs…is one of the most powerful gay men in the world…God Bless Him." He also followed it up with the tweet you see above, which was also pretty stupid.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Kanye West isn't gay. Neither was Steve Jobs. And even if Kanye was gay, this would still be a weird tweet for Dres to send out.

The Celebrity: Soulja Boy
The Social Media Blunder: Threatened to hunt Chief Keef down and murder him on Facebook in April. He later claimed that his Facebook had been hacked. But Keef responded to him on Twitter by telling SB to call him.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Although it seems as though Soulja wasn't involved in this fail, it took him a really long time to regain control of the situation and let people know that he wasn't actually trying to get at Keef. So this very well could have escalated into something way worse than it did.

The Celebrity: Rihanna
The Social Media Blunder: Posted a photo of her holding a loris in Thailand on Instagram in September and inadvertently got two men arrested for possessing the endangered animal.
Why It Was Such A Fail: The photo itself was innocent enough. But apparently, possessing a loris in Thailand is a punishable offense. So the men who let her take an IG photo with it could face jail time and a heavy fine because they had two lorises in their possession.

The Celebrity: Chief Keef
The Social Media Blunder: Started a Twitter beef with Katy Perry in May and threatened her. After Perry criticized his song, "Hate Bein' Sober," Keef took aim at her. "Dat bitch Katy Perry Can Suck Skin Off Of my dick," he tweeted. "Ill Smack The Shit out her."
Why It Was Such A Fail: It would have been one thing for Keef to send out one angry tweet about Katy Perry. But it was quite another for him to send out several tweets and then to threaten her with violence. He definitely didn't have to take it there.

The Celebrity: Mike Wallace
The Social Media Blunder: Made several homophobic statements on Twitter in April after NBA player Jason Collins came out and revealed that he is gay. "All these beautiful women in the world and guys wanna mess with other guys SMH…" he wrote.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Wallace tried to backtrack later and say that he wasn't "bashing anybody," but it was clear who this tweet was aimed at. And it was incredibly uncalled for.

The Celebrity: Marcus Jordan
The Social Media Blunder: Accidentally sent out a photo of his penis on Twitter in July. Michael Jordan's son deleted the tweet a few minutes later and wrote, "#mistake my bad," but not before the tweet was screengrabbed and picked up by a number of blogs.
Why It Was Such A Fail: Jordan later claimed that he was hacked and asked, "Y'all think I don't know how to work this?" But this is now the third time that he has said he was "hacked" on Twitter after doing something controversial Either he needs to learn how to use social media better—or he needs to make better passwords. He can't keep failing like this.

The Celebrity: M.I.A.
The Social Media Blunder: Talked about her custody battle with her son's father Edgar Bronfman, Jr. on Twitter in March. "WOW," she wrote, "THE BRONFMANS WANT TO TAKE MY CHILD AWAY FROM ME. WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THAT? THEY NEVER SEEN HIM."
Why It Was Such A Fail: Custody battles should be handled in the courtroom, not on Twitter. We sympathize with M.I.A.'s situation but cannot cosign her using her Twitter account to broadcast it to the world.

The Celebrity: Jaden Smith
The Social Media Blunder: Encouraged people to drop out of school on Twitter in September 2013. "If Everybody In The World Dropped Out Of School We Would Have A Much More Intelligent Society," he wrote.
Why It Was Such A Fail: This was one of many tweets that Will Smith's son sent out this year that left us scratching out heads. At this point, we're convinced that he just does it to get a rise out of people. But he needs to be careful about sending out tweets like this one, especially when there are so many kids who follow him on social media.

The Celebrity: Marcus Vick
The Social Media Blunder: Put a "bounty" on Riley Cooper's head on Twitter in July shortly after the Eagles wide receiver got caught using the N-word on video. "I'm putting a bounty on Riley's head," he wrote. "1k to the first Free Safety or Strong safety that light his ass up! Wake him up please…"
Why It Was Such A Fail: When will people learn that you cannot threaten people on Twitter? Vick deleted this tweet shortly after it went up. But every sports blog picked it up and ran with it. It made life for Marcus—and, more importantly, for his brother Michael—a living hell for a few days.

The Celebrity: Azealia Banks
The Social Media Blunder: Dissed Rita Ora on Twitter in March because she put up a photo of her wearing jelly shoes on Instagram. "Try again," she wrote. "I already did the jellies last year girl." She later added, "She's mad she's Rihanna's understudy."
Why It Was Such A Fail: Why must Azealia take aim at everyone on Twitter? This wasn't the only beef that she got into this year. But it was the silliest one and the one that she should have left alone.

The Celebrity: Justin Bieber
The Social Media Blunder: Posted a photo of him mooning a cameraman on Instagram in January. Somehow, the photo of his bare behind received more than 85,000 likes.
Why It Was Such A Fail: The image of Bieber's ass will stay on the Internet forever. FOREVER! It was funny when it happened. But something tells us it won't be as hilarious in 25 years when Biebs' kids find it.
