5 Reasons To Watch: 'Community' Season 4 Premiere Tonight
Community, one of NBC's most creative and quirky sitcoms, returns for season 4 tonight at 8 p.m. The show premiered just four short years ago and focused around Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) and his fake study group at Greendale community college. In that span, the series has created lovable characters like besties Troy (played by Donald Glover) and Abed, and even brought Chevy Chase back to the small screen.
Despite all that, Community has been on the chopping block ever since its debut. Thanks to fan contests, online petitions and the questionable exit of its creator Dan Harmon, it's lived to see another day. Check out 5 reasons you should tune into the Internet's favorite sitcom tonight.

The homages
Whether you see them as parodies or spoofs, the homages (as Abed calls them) are always cleverly written into some of the show's biggest episodes. From the looks of the trailer, Season 4 will open with an homage to The Hunger Games, as Dean Pelton has declared "The Hunger Deans."

Dan Harmon is gone, but the vision isn't
During the Community hiatus, creator Dan Harmon went to war with Chevy Chase and quit (or was fired). The show was actually based on some of the classmates Harmon went to community college with, but as time went on, the characters have formed their own identities. While he isn't in the writer's room anymore, his vision will continue with many of the original writers still sticking around to keep the show going.

The Return of Starburns
What makes Community so special is not only its main characters, but the background ones as well. We're sure that Fat Neil, Leonard, Vicki and Magnitude will be around Greendale's campus, but we need to know what happened to Starburns. Starburns, or Alex, faked his own death in Season 3 and should be returning with a new accessory this season.

Pierce's departure
After a battle with Dan Harmon, Chevy Chase announced last year that this will be his final season on the show. So how will they get rid of him? With his character Pierce already the least likable on the show, it's going to be nothing short of controversial.

It may be the last season
Community loves its fans. When ratings fell during Season 2, fans came together to create websites, petitions, YouTube tributes and more about their favorite show. Not to mention Community has won about every "Favorite TV Show" contest in the past four years. But sometimes, TV loses great shows to slow ratings. If ratings for Season 4 don't trump the 8 p.m. time slot, this could very well be the last season for our favorite Greendale study group. So catch them while you can.
