We think it's safe to say that Mark Zuckerberg is a social network beast. In its biggest acquisition to date, Facebook announced that it has purchased Instagram, the popular photo sharing application, for about $1 billion in cash and shares. In a posting on his Facebook page, Zuckerberg stated that Facebook and Instagram will remain separate entities, but grow along with one another. "We believe these are different experiences that complement each other," he wrote. "But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building Instagram's strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook." While he may keep his promise to have Facebook and Instagram remain separate, the fact of the matter is that this merger will bring changes to the game.
