5 Things We Don't Want To See On 'The Queen Latifah Show'
Queen Latifah kicks off her new CBS daytime talk show today (Sept. 16) with big guests and even bigger surprises. After being shelved for 10 years, The Queen Latifah Show is back like it never left . And the media maven's inaugural week is jam-packed with top stars—John Travolta, Alicia Keys and Willow Smith all showed out for the debut episode.
After Latifah strutted onto stage to the tune of the Bee Gees' "Staying Alive," the episode was full of unexpected moments. As the queen preps for another talk-show run, here are 5 things we hope not to see.

1. No Interactions With Exotic Animals
The Queen is no Jack Hanna, and we don't expect her to trot out wild mongoose, or speed-limit breaking cheetahs. There's no need for the royal talk show host to turn her daytime program into a zoo. She has her hands full already trying to keep her guests in check.

2. Do Not Perform Your Past Hits
As classic as "U.N.I.T.Y." and "Just Another Day..." are, audiences don't need to be reminded of your past glory while celebrating your current (and future) success. With MC Lyte as your resident DJ, the urge to take it "back in the day" is there, but it's better left in the '90s where it belongs.

3. No Slinking Into Maury Povich / Jerry Springer Waters
It's common to see on shows that plunge into the negative ratings pool to bring something "controversial" to kick them up a notch. While today marks your debut show, our hope is that you achieve more successes than failures. Just in case the audience doesn't come to the party, please, please, please don't start trotting out paternity test patients in hopes of putting your own "spin" on such basura.

4. Do Not Invite Young Zee Or The Outsidaz On The Show
It's not really fun without your friends reveling in the success, a fact that is painfully true in the entertainment business. But, there isn't anyone in today's world who recalls your fellow Jersey rap-mates, and while the Queen has the platform to re-introduce The Outsidaz (which included Young Zee) to the world—somethings are better left unnoticed.

5. No On-Air Colonoscopy Episodes
The Queen Latifah Show is promising us all a good time, and not an in-depth look into the life of its hostess. While gossip rags all want to find out the Queen's nitty-gritty, we do not want you to go the Tyra Banks route with explorative exposés and episodes featuring you in compromising positions. You're too cool for all of that. The Vibe Mix Newsletter
