8 Electronic Producers Who Should Remix Lorde "Royals"

October 15, 2013 - 3:00 pm by Megan Saad

Lorde, aka Ella Yelich-O’Conno, is the youngest solo artist to ever top the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at the tender age of 16. The New Zealander released The Love Club EP back in March featuring hit single “Royals,” which also appears on her debut LP, Pure Heroine. The talented, teenage singer/songwriter has received many honorable remixes for the breakout track, including one wildly popular edit from The Weeknd. "I really admire what he does and he tells it," Lorde said of his "Royal" revamp. "You get his music and the whole things in the beginning, I think it was so clever." With this refreshing outlook on blurring the genre lines, VIBE came up with some EDM producers who should remix “Royals.” -->

Skrillex Skrillex knows how to play with instruments. Mr. Moore can re-wub anything from reggae to dubstep to rock n roll seamlessly. With some monster drops and mounting beats, Skrill should take "Royals" from a mellow chill-out tune to a roller coaster festival anthem. Photo Credit: Getty

Mike Hawkins The Denmark DJ is making major waves in the dance scene and we believe Mike Hawkins has the edge for some Royal remix treatment. Imagine a cooler night time edit, laced with some thumping bass. Photo Credit: www.colours.co.uk

Mysto & Pizzi The New York duo should give this track a club holiday make over, that would be celebrated from Lorde’s hometown in New Zealand all the way to Ibiza. Check out M&P's Lana Del Rey remix for proof. Photo Credit: www.superglued.com

GLAdiator The LA producers should rework the beat of "Royals" and chop Lorde's soulful vocals until the tune becomes something you can nod your head to, and perhaps do a little Royal twerking to as well. Photo Credit: www.djz.com

Salva Speaking of twerking...Salva should inject Lorde’s hit song with some urban flavor and spin it from pop to trap in 120 beats per minute. Photo Credit: www.factmag.com

Eliot Lipp The Brooklyn artist should use his flair for the funk and speed up "Royals," add more layers to the base track and bring it from the present to the past and future all at once. Photo Credit: www.blogs.artvoice.com

MartyParty We'd like to see the South African producer turn "Royals" into some dubbed-out stroke of genius. If anyone can get the party started it's Marty, who is known for hyping crowds with elegant remixes and endless energy. Photo Credit: www.thedolab.com

Hyper Crush This Californian trio can remix anything. Hyper crush should spin "Royals" into a super sexy, turnt-up club hit. Photo Credit: Getty
