9 Must Catch Acts On Mad Decent Block Party Tour

May 6, 2013 - 6:28 pm by Mike Steyels

The annual Mad Decent Block Party will be touring North America beginning in mid-May, and like always, there's a lot of EDM heat on their line up. While this year won't be free, you still won't want to miss it.

In anticipation of this traveling band of freaks, VIBE shows love to some to our favorite artists on the line up this year. We cover a lot of these acts on the regs (like Dillon Francis and Sliink), and others we just recently featured (such as 3Ball MTY and Swizzymack). The line up changes from city to city, so double check to make sure you know who's in your town. Now dive in. ->

9. Destructo This man runs things like bawse, seeing as he is the man behind the HARD events. Gary Richards is the one who knows what a good dance track sounds like, so be sure to expect lots of sweating when he hits the decks. [videoembed size="full_width" alignment="center"][/videoembed]

8. Samo Sound Boy As co-founder of the buzzing Body High label, you can depend on LA-based Samo to bring the raw clubs sounds. His label is an underground darling, and he produces some tuff beats of his own too.

7. Nadastrom The moombahton thing was started by Dave Nada, (who's half of this act along side Matt Nordstrom), so we're thrilled to see his name on any billing. Give credit where it's due!

6. SBTRKT The mysterious artist behind the mask has a sound that definitely works well on the dancefloor, but it's a bit more subtle and reserved than the majority of other choices for this line up. Call it a break from the hype and a moment to work your mind as well as your feet. [videoembed size="full_width" alignment="center"][/videoembed]

5. DJ Dus The block party makes a bit of room for Global Bass, which brings us to DJ Dus. There's a number of standard styles to draw from in the world of global bass, but El Dusty does a good job of skewing everything into a unique, individualized take on the sounds. He works primarily in the world of Cumbia but throws it into his customized electronic dance blender and adds a bunch of other ingredients into the mix as well.

4. Kito Kito proves there's life after trap. She knows that electronic rap beats can be so much more, and proves it. While she excels at instrumentals, the Aussie is not afraid of vocals either, and brings along Reija Lee to handle singing duties.

3. Skream Everybody likes Skream, don't they? Homie is one of the OG dubstep acts from London who does the festival circuit now. He also gives away mad music. So show some love (in other words, drop some money on him). [videoembed size="full_width" alignment="center"][/videoembed]

2. The Partysquad This duo is about the party... but that's pretty obvious, isn't it? They're fond of taking dancehall and blending it w electronic styles like trap rave and hardstyle. Guaranteed to get you hype.

1. Jack U Yes, Skrillex and Diplo are actually teaming up. And you can catch their first performances as Jack U on this very tour.
