Actin' A Fool: The 10 Best Moments From Fool's Gold Day Off NYC 2015

September 8, 2015 - 4:34 pm by Ashley Monaé TWITTER

Fool's Gold Records set up shop at Williamsburg's 50 Kent for their annual Day Off party and it was a serious lituation.

For the past six years, Fool's Gold Records' Day Off bash has become a Labor Day tradition in its own right. New Yorkers flocked to Williamsburg's 50 Kent venue to partake in the event's signature mash up of hip-hop and EDM tunes for the ultimate turn-up.

The stifling 90-degree weather didn't stop hundreds of eclectic individuals from enjoying the self-proclaimed party of the year–complete with good vibes,  good music, a plethora of food trucks and a dope Fool's Gold pop up shop.

This year's lineup boasted headliner Meek Mill, Fame School, D.R.A.M, Post Malone, Skepta and A-Trak himself on the 1's and 2's, just to name a few. And in true Fool's Gold fashion, A-Trak made sure to lace the extravaganza with a number of special guests.

Click through the gallery above to peep the highlights from Fool's Gold Day Off NYC 2015.

A noticably slimmer Makonnen was the first special guest to hit the stage. "I Don't Sell Molly No More" had the crowd turnt as he rocked a Trizzy airbrushed tee afixed with A-Trak's face.

D.R.A.M.

D.R.A.M.'s energy is incomparable. He commanded the stage with his feel-good vibes and postive energy, serenading the crowd with a rendition of Bootsy Collins' "I'd Rather Be With You," his "Cha Cha" hit and more. It should also be noted that his high-energy dance moves were doing the absolute most, but you've got to love someone enjoying what they're doing.

Falcons

An up-an-coming producer/DJ hailing from Los Angeles, Falcons is definitely one to watch. Carrying a Patron bottle a.k.a turn up juice, he quickly set up shop on the Day Off stage, giving an impressive 30-minute set that was nothing short of brilliant. Churning out hip-hop, R&B and EDM tunes via Serato, he smoothly transitioned from throwback jams like Ludacris' "What's Your Fantasy" to recent bangers like Dej Loaf's "Try Me."

A$AP Ferg

The A$AP Mob member made a special and very much welcomed apperance. Mosh pits were plenty during "Work" and "Shabba." Ferg also spit some dope lines from his upcoming album, that honors his block of Hamilton and A$AP Yams.

A-Trak

When it comes to the DJ/producer, he's a true master of ceremony. Hailed as one of the best DJs to ever touch a turntable, A-Trak proved once again just why he's earned such a title. His 30-minute set was filled with his skilled scratching and beloved mixes of fan favorites. @atrak killed it! #FGDAYOFF A video posted by ashley monaé (@chicmonae) on Sep 7, 2015 at 8:27pm PDT

Post Malone & Bankroll Fresh

The "White Iverson" rapper kept the crowd jamming with his down-tempo bangers. Malone suffered from a tragic fall while two-stepping, but he kept it moving and recovered well. He also brought out rising Atlanta rapper, Bankroll Fresh, to turn up the crowd with "Hot Boy."

A-Trak brought out Brooklyn's very own Fabolous to bless the stage. As expected, the young OG entered with "Lituation" and ended with the much appreciated throwback, "Breathe."

Flatbush Zombies

At the peak of nightfall, Brooklyn's Zombies brought their trippy manifesto and Generation Y flow, full of drug lingo and banging beats to the stage. The venue shook from the boisterious trio's energy.

Skepta

The "S" in Skepta definitely stands for "Shutdown." Though a rising act in the States, the UK rapper's grimy sound is building a solid following and proving to be amongst the next wave of overseas acts to take over the U.S. Man like @skeptagram just destroyed Brooklyn @graceladoja 🏼 #shutdown #FGDAYOFF A video posted by A-Trak (@atrak) on Sep 7, 2015 at 9:40pm PDT

Meek Mill

As the headliner, many were expecting a memorable perfomrance from Meek Mill. However, beyond performing his own hits and a melody of OG Maco's "You Guessed It," Travi$ Scott's "Antidote" and Rae Sremmurd's "No Type," the best moment of his set came in the form of a showstopping poster, literally. Meek stopped his performance to personally address a concertgoer who was waving a Drake poster. The tough Philly rapper used the word "dweeb" to deflect from the negative attention the poster was bringing. Fans took to Instagram and of course, the comment section to add their input on the LOL moment.
