A Brief Timeline Of 50 Cent & Floyd Mayweather’s Relationship

Friends in 2006, mortal enemies by 2014. That’s the story of Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent. Recently rocking the Web with the latest chapter in their two-year beef saga, the once good friends have re-ignited their on-again, off-again insult swapping. But how did they get here?

From a joint venture gone wrong, to jail sentences, to affair rumors, Fif and Floyd have really been through it all. Want proof? Here’s a brief timeline of their (long, drama-filled) relationship. Flip through and read slowly. -- Iyana Robertson

2006 - 50 amps Mayweather before his Oscar De La Hoya fight One of 50 and Mayweather’s first signs of bromance was their words for Oscar De La Hoya before his losing bout to the Mayweather in 2007. “Don’t nobody understand 50 Cent. We talk about things that he don’t talk about with nobody else. He’s the villain in rap music, I’m the villain in boxing,” Mayweather said of 50. “It’s hard for you to figure out how to beat somebody who’s undefeated,” 50 said of Mayweather. Ah, good times. After sharing how a gambling transaction went wrong and led to the two going at it, 50 stated, “Floyd is no longer undefeated.” But they would patch things up quickly after that. 2009 - Floyd and 50 have twin Rick Ross beefs 50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather both had beef with Rick Ross back in 2009 - at the same damn time. They even took things as far as cozying up to Ross’ son and his son’s mother. Disrespectful. (P.S.- Mayweather squashed his beef first) 2011 - Floyd and 50 share a magazine cover Remember that time they graced a magazine cover together? It read “It’s Always Money, Power & Respect.” Damn, well not always. June 2012 - Mayweather goes to jail Floyd Mayweather begins a 60-day jail sentence for a 2010 domestic dispute.

July 2012 - 50 Cent gets joint The Money Team venture licensed According to 50 Cent, he and Mayweather were in talks to being a joint boxing promotion company called The Money Team. After learning that the title was simply a moniker, the rapper claims he specn $2 million dollars getting The Money Team officially licensed in July 2012. Aug. 2012 - 50 Cent picks Floyd Mayweather up from jail. Floyd Mayweather serves his 90-day jail bid. 50 Cent is among the first to greet him. Aug. 2012 - Sorry Miss Jackson? Rumors of an alleged affair between 50 Cent and Mayweather’s then-girlfriend Miss Jackson are set ablaze by the boxer apparently pulling her away from 50 at a movie premiere. Sept. 2012 - 50 Says ‘Things are different’ between he and Floyd Mayweather 50 talks he relationship with Mayweather following his prison release on The Rickey Smiley Show, stating that there was “a different side of Floyd coming out of the pen.” He also said “[The issues between us] really comes from…everybody around him is waiting on the next time he feels generous. And I have a lot [of money] so I don’t wait for nobody. I’ll go do what I gotta do. I don’t have to sit around and wait for the next time he feels like giving somebody something.” Sept. 2012 - Reports: 50 Cent in talks to work with Manny Pacquiao Following the hint at trouble in paradise with Floyd Mayweather, news breaks that 50 Cent is in talks to work on a promotion company with rival fighter Manny Pacquiao. Nov. 2012 - 50 Announces the end of The Money Team Just months after things began to get rocky between 50 and Floyd, 50 Cent takes to Twitter to announce the end of their The Money Team venture. He also puts the merchandise on sale for the low: TMT IS OVER the money team is no longer a team. He says he realized after Mayweather went to jail that “there is no Mayweather Promotions, there’s no LLC,” and that he built the company with his money, of which he was never repaid. Feb. 2013 - 50 Cent says Floyd “ducked” Manny Pacquiao, but they’re still friends 50 Cent does an interview with ESPN’s First Take, and says that Mayweather ducked fighting his rival, Manny Pacquiao. “At this point, it's more so of him finding who is the perfect opponent then him finding the toughest fighter to fight,” Fif told Skip Bayless. May 2013 - Floyd says he and 50 Cent “don’t see eye-to-eye” Before his bout with Robert Guerrero, Mayweather chopped it up with DJ Enuff about his rift with 50 Cent. “Sometimes people don’t see eye-to-eye on certain situations, and sometimes the best way to handle things is to say ‘Okay, we don’t see eye-to-eye. Sept. 2013 - 50 takes jabs at Mayweather’s girlfriend, says she slept with Ray J Floyd Mayweather breaks up with Miss Jackson, and begins dating a new woman: Princess Love. 50 takes to Instagram to clown Mayweather after the rumor mill churns out that Princess was sleeping with Ray J. Mayweather responds, saying “leave trash in the garbage for bums to dig through because you can find yourself hanging around garbage so much you will forget how rotten it is.”

August 2014- Floyd says “certain hip-hop artists” are “irrelevant” A new Floyd Mayweather interview hits the Web where he references rappers. He alludes to his name being used “when people are not relevant, and they’re not moving units like they was once moving.”

August 2014- 50 issues Mayweather a reading challenge, Mayweather responds After catching wind of Mayweather’s comments about “irrelevant” rappers, 50 Cent issues a reading challenge to Mayweather. Mayweather responds with a photo of two hefty checks with the caption, “Read this $72,276,000.00. God bless.” August 2014- 50 tell Angie Martinez Floyd “could read” In an interview with Angie Martinez, 50 retracts his insinuation that Mayweather is illiterate. "Champ could read, he could read,” he said. “I don’t want to hurt him, Ang, but he does things that agitates me. He does things to aggravate me a little bit. I look at him like he my little brother too, like my younger brother but he’ll pick at me like, You ain’t bigger than me.” August 2014- Floyd Mayweather Sr. says 50 should go up against his son in the ring Floyd Mayweather Sr. comments on the bickering between his son and 50 Cent. "He weighs over 100 pounds more than Floyd,” he said. “Let him go up against Floyd ... put that on video. Floyd would stop all that. Wouldn't be no more said." 50’s response? “He won’t kick my ass.”
