Crew Love: DJ Khaled's 10 Best Posse Cuts of All Time

DJ Khaled done done it again—he got another one! Last week, he released "Take It to the Head," the first single from his new album, Kiss The Ring. And it took us exactly 0.3 seconds to realize that Khaled had another banger on his hands. Thanks to guest appearances from Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne, the Runners-produced track is already ingrained in our heads and we're sure that, in no time, it'll be sailing up the Billboard charts and getting plenty of play both at radio and in the clubs.

But, at this point, should we really be surprised? This is what Khaled does! The guy is quickly becoming legendary for creating insane posse cuts that bring artists together and result in hits. And we want to celebrate that. So in honor of "Take It to the Head" dropping, we put together a list of our 10 favorite DJ Khaled posse cuts. Some were big in the clubs. Others were big on the charts. But they all earned a special place in our hearts—and on our iPods!—thanks to Khaled's special touch. The Posse Cut: "Take It to the Head," from 2012's Kiss The Ring The Featured Artists: Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne What Made It So Great: We want to let this song marinate for awhile before we put it any higher on this list and let is assume its rightful spot. But, "Take It to the Head" features a much more low-key Khaled. It's almost as if he recognizes just how solid the song is and doesn't feel the need to try and convince us of it. #9. The Posse Cut: "Welcome to My Hood," from 2011's We the Best Forever The Featured Artists: T-Pain, Rick Ross, Plies, and Lil Wayne What Made It So Great: Can you say "quintessential hood anthem"? #8. The Posse Cut: "Out Here Grindin'," from 2008's We Global The Featured Artists: Akon, Rick Ross, Plies, Lil Boosie, Ace Hood, and Trick Daddy What Made It So Great: Khaled at his finest! On paper, this collection of artists could have fallen flat. They were all at different stages of their careers and even just one misstep could have ruined the song. But all five rappers came through and Khaled really sold himself and his song by talking his ish all over the intro. This still goes hard. The Posse Cut: "Holla at Me," from 2006's Listennn...the AlbumThe Featured Artists: Lil Wayne, Paul Wall, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, and PitbullWhat Made It So Great: A common denominator on a lot of Khaled's posse cuts? Lil Wayne. Listen to all of the tracks on this list featuring Wayne and you'll literally hear him grow up. This was one of the first Wayne/Khaled collabos and it got their working relationship off on the right foot. #6. The Posse Cut: "100 Million," from Birdman's 5 * Stunna The Featured Artists: Rick Ross, Dre, Young Jeezy, and Lil Wayne What Made It So Great: Okay, so technically this isn't a Khaled song. But, it might as well be. Although it appeared on Birdman's album, Khaled jumped on the intro and it sounded like something that would've been right at home on one of his projects. #5. The Posse Cut: "I'm So Hood," from 2007's We the Best The Featured Artists: T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and PliesWhat Made It So Great: Khaled knows where his bread is buttered. It's why at least one of the posse cuts on every single one of his albums usually caters to the hood. This was one of his earliest—and best—examples. #4. The Posse Cut: "All I Do Is Win," from 2011's We the Best Forever The Featured Artists: T-Pain, Ludacris, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg What Made It So Great: This song appeals to winning. And, who doesn't want to win? Exactly. So, everyone from the guys by the bar at the club to the marching band at the high school football game has adopted this song as their official anthem. Why, a remix, of course! And Khaled called on a bunch of other rappers from all different parts of the country to appear on this one to give it a boost. As if it really needed one... #2. The Posse Cut: "I'm On One," from 2011's We the Best Forever The Featured Artists: Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne What Made It So Great: Is this actually a "posse" cut? Eh, we'll let you debate that. What's not debatable, though, is that this is easily one of the best records that Khaled—or Drake, for that matter—has ever put out. The Posse Cut: "We Takin' Over," from 2007's We the Best The Featured Artists: Akon, T.I., Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Birdman, and Lil Wayne What Made It So Great: That Danja beat, that Akon hook, that Wayne verse. Oooooooh $^%&! Even though this song came out five years ago, we dare a DJ to throw this one on in the club at the end of the night.
