May 23, 2014 - 6:40 pm
Who: Macklemore What: The rapper wore a big nose and hat as part of a costume that was deemed offensive toward the Jewish community. Seth Rogen even tweeted: “first you trick people into thinking you’re a rapper, now you trick them into thinking you’re Jewish?” Redemption: Macklemore released an apology and statement saying the costume was purely coincidental.
Who: Kendall Jenner
What: While introducing boy band 5SOS at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, the Jenner sister flubbed her lines and then called herself the "worst reader."
Redemption: Don't worry if she reads lines; she gets checks.
Who: Mark Cuban
What: In a taped interview, the Dallas Mavericks basically cops to being a dick and succumbing to stereotypes. "We're all prejudiced in one way or the other," he told Inc. "If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it's late at night, I'm walking to the other side of the street. And if on that side of the street, there's a guy that has tattoos all over his face — white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere — I'm walking back to the other side of the street.”
Redemption: He apologized to Trayvon Martin’s family. Maybe he should also learn more tolerance.
Who:ForbesWhat: Black Twitter sounded off after the reputable business publication crowned Iggy Azalea with the headline "Hip-Hop Is Run By A White, Blonde, Australian Woman." Nicki Minaj responded to the article, which claimed that she's been off the radar, by saying: “Listen. All Forbes needs to worry about is my finances and when I’m going to be selling Myx Fusions for $250 million. That’s all they need to worry about. We rely on hip-hop connoisseurs and blogs for that kind of information. So we appreciate it, but no thank you.”
Redemption: The mag later changed its headline.
Who: Charlie Sheen
What: The actor ranted about Rihanna on Twitter, blasting her for apparently curving he and his girlfriend a Santa Monica restaurant.
Redemption: To be fair, he's crazy.
