FKA Twigs Has No Aspirations To Be A Part Of Taylor Swift's Girl Squad
Sorry, no #SquadGoals here.
FKA twigs has always been in her own lane and isn't looking to change that anytime soon.
The beautiful British singer covers Paper Magazine's October 2015 issue and speaks on a plethora of topics from pop precedents like Björk, striving to get better at writings songs and producing, and much more.
Surprisingly, as confident as the 27-year-old comes off in her music and videos, twigs is just like us. She's shy, over thinks things sometimes and isn't totally comfortable with being the center of attention. "I need to get better at being in front of the camera, not feeling awkward if I go on the red carpet. Or when it's one of those moments where you're suddenly the center of attention," she says. "It's fine like this -- if you're talking to me, I don't feel awkward. But if it's loads of people, like, "twigs! twigs!" I don't... I need to get better at that," she added.
One of the more notable takeaways from the interview was twigs very honest and very blunt answer not wanting to being a part of Taylor Swift's overwhelming gal squad comprised of about 16 BFFs (and counting). Swift became the topic of conversation when Paper pointed out FKA's different relationship with her fans than "Swift, whose appeal lies in the fact that everyone wants to be friends with her."
"I think Taylor Swift is great, but I wouldn't necessarily think, 'Oh my god, I have to be friends with her,'" she said. "When I meet fans, they're quite creative and intelligent, kind, sensitive. Some are old ladies, witch doctors from Louisiana, kids that have just left art school. Gay or lesbian couples, straight middle-aged couples..."
So basically, don't expect to see FKA popping up in any of Swift's videos anytime.
