DJ Drama Rocked 2011

Go DJ! The Top 6 DJs Who Rocked 2011

December 27, 2011 - 7:23 pm by Vibe

Two-thousand and eleven definitely had its share Drama.

This Philly DJ kept the streets blazing all summer long with his chart-topping single, “Oh My” featuring Roscoe Dash, Wiz Khalifa, and Fabolous, and later dropped his third album, Third Power in October. “Oh My” peaked at number nineteen and was Drama’s first entry onto the Billboard Charts. Third Power also peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Rap Albums Chart and was Drama Boy’s first album to be released on E1 Music/Aphilliates.

With a successful year coming to a close, you can bet fans will be witnessing more Drama unfold in 2012.

AfroJack Rocked 2011

This Dutch music producer spun his way onto the U.S. charts this summer. Not only did he do work on Beyonce’s “Run The World (Girls)”, but he kept the dance floors jumping with his production behind Pitbull’s number one hit “Give Me Everything”, featuring R&B’s dapper dan, Ne-Yo and dance music’s it-girl, Nayer.

The single went 4x Platinum in the U.S., 5x Platinum in Australia, easily becoming a dance-pop anthem. When he’s not producing, you can catch Afrojack remixing many of your favorite dance-pop tunes from artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Nicki Minaj, and David Guetta.

Hitting the American scene full-force this year, 2012 can only promise more international love from this mix master.

DJ Khaled Rocked 2011

This winner of this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards DJ of Year, kept the blocks bumping with his infamous street anthems for the duration of 2011. From “Welcome to My Hood” to “I’m On One” it was clear DJ Khaled had the game on lock when it came to employing some of hip- hop’s hottest emcees.

Yes, 2011 was undeniably the golden year for his We the Best imprint, and Khaled made it clear he knew that, after revealing the name of his sixth studio album, Kiss The Ring. Hip-Hop fans have been busy watching the throne this year, but judging by the year he had, DJ Khaled may be ready to don his crown in 2012.

DJ Diamond Kuts has been on the radar for quite a while now after securing gigs on BET’s The Deal and most recently, 106 & Park, as an in house DJ and occasional host.

On Friday nights, this Philly native keeps it in the neighborhood acting as a host on the city’s hip-hop station, Power 99 FM. She even released her own mixtape this year entitled, Herstory in the Making featuring appearances from Nicki Minaj (who she adores), DJ Khaled, Ace Hood, and many more!

Looking to conquer the entertainment industry the best way she knows how, through the turntables, Diamond Kuts can be sure to deliver more of her life in the near future.

DJ Envy Rocked 2011

DJ Envy has transformed from being one of New York’s most wanted DJs to a powerhouse figure. While he continues to hold down parties all around the globe, the self-proclaimed mixtape king acts as a host of MTV2’s Sucker Free Sundays and a member of the Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.

The trio recently celebrated their one year anniversary with a decked-out party and concert including performances from Wale, Meek Mill, and 2 Chainz. Envy is also an official representative of Ciroc Vodka, host of Sirus Radio’s Hip-Hop Nation, co-produces The Heart of the City, and is the CEO of his own company, Blok Management.

An entrepreneur in his own right, DJ Envy is clearly on his way to conquering anything he can get his hands on in 2012 and beyond.

Pauly D Rocked 2011

Armed with his witty phrases and neatly coiffed hair, DJ Pauly D handled his business in 2011. He became the in-house DJ for the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, toured with Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale concert series as her opening act, completed the fourth season of MTV’s critically acclaimed reality show, Jersey Shore, and inked a deal with rap’s Street King 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records and G-Note Records.

The deal reportedly includes not only a 3-album release agreement, but the production of Pauly D’s own line of headphones. (Move over Beats by Dre & Chambers by RZA) MTV also confirmed Pauly D will be receiving his own spin-off from The Jersey Shore, which recently released its trailer for season five. The new show entitled Delvecchio (Pauly’s last name) will commence production at the top of next year.

With plenty of new projects in the works, it looks like Pauly D ended 2011 “Winning!”, and will continue to win big in 2012.
