In a interview with MTV, songstress Jhene Aiko recreates some of Tupac's most iconic images for what would've been the rapper's 44th birthday. Aiko, who is a die-hard 'Pac fan, admits to becoming familiar with Tupac at a late age. "I didn't form a personal love for him until I was a teenager and I saw Resurrection"
Fully aware anything 'Pac associated will cause many to comment and criticize, Aiko, 27, admitted she didn't want to make exact replicas of the beloved images. "I didn't want the pictures to be exactly spot-on because I can't channel Tupac...I wasn't worried about what people were going to think, because it's just a personal thing for me."
Like many who gravitated to the hip-hop icon, Aiko admits that she saw past his controversial life. "I just saw the big picture, she said...He was so contradictory to people but to me he was just human and not afraid to express himself."
