Life Is Beautiful 2015: Andra Day And Felix Jaehn Light Up Day 1

September 26, 2015 - 3:16 pm by Iyana Robertson TWITTER

Andra Day and Felix Jaehn give Live Is Beautiful 2015 the perfect kick off.

The aptly-named Life Is Beautiful festival hit Downtown Las Vegas on Friday (Sept. 25), bringing music, art, food and fans together for a three-day celebration. Occupying 11 city blocks, the annual event features artists – seasoned and new – curating an experience of good vibes.

Kicking off day one, soul newcomer Andra Day hit the Huntridge Stage in a form-fitting purple dress and her now-signature matching headwrap, with her rich vocals in tow. Following the summer release of her album, Cheers To The Fall, the San Diego native ran through cuts from the project, as well as one notable cover. Taking on a classic from the self-proclaimed “rap god” Eminem, Day put a twist on his Grammy-winning 8 Mile track, “Lose Yourself,” mixing her role of R&B singer with her role as a hip-hop fan:

Things also took a turn for the turn up with with the DJ who helped make OMI’s “Cheerleader” an international hit, Felix Jaehn. Giving dance fans a dose of synths and bass, Jaehn spun a slew of fist-pump inducing jams, including his spin on Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody.” As a trance-like light show surrounded his tricked-out DJ booth, the crowd proceeded to hit their two steps, jumps, and hip sways. A necessary end to his hour-long run, Jaehn ended his set with OMI’s colossal smash:
