Life Is Beautiful 2015: Alessia Cara, Ab-Soul, Snoop Dogg & More Rock The Mic For Day 2

September 21, 2015 - 11:43 pm by Adelle Platon TWITTER

All the high notes of Life Is Beautiful Day 2 fit to print

After basking in 102-degree weather and Day 1's hottest acts, Las Vegas' Life Is Beautiful Festival continued to bring la flames on Saturday (Sept. 27).

Buzzy songstress Alessia Cara touched down for her first on-stage rendezvous in Sin City, singing the heck out of her Four Pink Walls EP, a potent medley of wise words and old soul gems concocted in her pink bedroom. See her ode to teen-dom on "Seventeen," where she reminisces on lessons past handed down from daddy dearest. "My daddy says that life comes at you fast/ We all like blades of grass/ We come to prime and in time we just wither away/ And it all changes," she sung. The Canadian crooner also performed a live cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling" for the first time, admitting she didn't remember all the words. "Drake will never collaborate with me now," she joked at the Ambassador stage. She also debuted "Scars To Your Beautiful," a girl power anthem from her forthcoming debut that harps on self-love: "I wanted to make a reminder to just love and appreciate yourself." She wrapped up nicely with her debut smash "Here."

Scattered throughout the festival city grounds were Pia Mia, the blonde bombshell who delivered a high-energy set at the Troubadour stage, capped off by her breakout jam "Do It Again," which co-stars Tyga and Chris Brown. DJ, The Magician, later pulled out all his tricks for a suh-weet hip hop and EDM mix, which included DDR versions of Kendrick Lamar and other rap goodies. K.Dot's cohort, Ab-Soul, also rocked the party for an early evening set on the Huntridge stage, repping TDE with a gumbo of older cuts ("Terrorist Threats") and newer tracks ("Tree of Life"), even dedicating his set list to the Black Hippy collabo "Vice City" from Jay Rock's 90059 album. While the Black Lip Pastor confessed that he's gotten a little rusty on stage, Soulo's support system IRL showed no signs of wear and tear as cell phones were raised to the sky for the closer "ILLuminate."

The Doggfather himself and Chance The Rapper were the night's MVPs with back-to-back performances on the Ambassador stage. Chance The Father performed the bulk of his high-off-life 'tape, Acid Rap with little blips of Action Bronson's "Baby Blue", Jeremih's "Planes" and the Surf single, Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment's "Sunday Candy." Snoop two-stepped onto the stage for his 10:20pm set after, catering to both the East and Left coasts with the Cali classics "Next Episode," "Gin & Juice," and even bringing the rhythm and gangsta with his more recent notables like 2004's "Drop It Like It's Hot" and the Akon-assisted "I Wanna F**k You." Snoop's pop hits got some camera time, as well, from Katy Perry's "California Girls" remix to Jason Derulo's "Wiggle." He also saluted fallen rap gods Tupac, Biggie and Nate Dogg. If that wasn't enough, he also had his Nasty Dogg mascot on deck and a blunt in hand. Once the weed smoke subsided, Snoop chucked two peace signs in the air and left the crowd with multiple high notes for the Wiz Khalifa duet "Young, Wild And Free.
