Lin-Manuel Miranda: The Underlying Factor Connecting Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Biggie's Ten Crack Commandments
Here are the comparisons between Hamilton's "Ten Duel Commandments" spin-off and Biggie's "Ten Crack Commandments," and how it relates back to the Presidential candidates.
Lin-Manuel Miranda has utilized nearly every televised moment he’s accumulated to dump on Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump. His most recent anti-Trump moment occurred at a “Broadway meets Hollywood” benefit fundraiser in support of Hillary Clinton’s campaign this past Monday night (Oct. 17) in New York.
Miranda and fellow Hamilton cast mate, Renee Elise Goldsberry, banded together to re-spin their initial “Ten Duel Commandments” adaptation of the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Ten Crack Commandments”. The duo use each commandment to parley supportive bars for Clinton, prompting listeners to reach out to friends and family try to turn typically red states like Ohio blue and bring awareness to how close Clinton is to breaking a major glass ceiling.

But, we decided to take it a step further. After you finish checking out Miranda and Goldsberry’s performance above, flip through to see how we connected Trump to the original “Ten Crack Commandments” lyrics paired with the spin-off version performed Monday night.

Lin-Manuel Miranda: The Underlying Factor Connecting Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Biggie's Ten Crack Commandments

Trump and Experience (Or The Lack Thereof)
“Hillary makes each decision Looking at the world from a rarefied position. A public servant with tenacity, agility. Mi gente, experience is not a liability.” Hillary is clearly the frontrunner in terms of experience, I mean she did have a passenger seat view of what it takes to be President as First Lady, in addition to her own governmental pursuits as Senator of New York (2001-2009) and becoming Secretary of State under current president, Barack Obama. So, referring back to Biggie’s original lyrics, Clinton’s entire run acts as a guide or a “step-by-step booklet for [Trump] to get [his] game on track.” … which he still hasn’t quite figured out yet.
We The People… Do Not Trust Trump
“Your moms’ll set that a** up, properly gassed up
Hoodied and masked up, sh**, for that fast buck
She be laying in the bushes to light that a** up."
Although there’s issues with trust between both candidates and the voters, Trump seems to be leading this one. Most recently, he’s been on the receiving end of media-expent heat with a newly-released video of an interview he had with Billy Bush of NBC News. But just yesterday, it was announced that Billy Bush was fired from the news network, and we can’t help but wonder what type of influence Trump had on this decision.
So, in an attempt to prevent voters from feeling like they were set up (as expressed in Big’s lyrics above), Miranda urges us to call “undecideds with [our] crew” and “our cousins in Ohio” to “maybe try to flip them blue”. Since, Trump’s reactions aim low, Democrats have to band together and “go high.”

We're Not Here For Trying To Cover Up His Lack Of Concern For All People
“Number 5: never sell no crack where you rest at,
I don’t care if they want an ounce, tell ‘em ‘bounce!’
...That goddamn credit? Dead it
You think a crackhead paying you back, sh** forget it!”
It’s clear that Trump’s true focus (in terms of voter segments) for the campaign trail has been the wealthy one percent, or more simply put, everyone excluding minorities and women. But, it seems like Trump didn’t listen to Big’s advice about “never sell[ing] where you rest at” until later in his campaign, when he tried to renege on his efforts to build a great wall on the southern border on Cinco De Mayo.
The Republican nominee claims that he now “love[s] Hispanics!” We’re deading the credit he’s trying to pay back to the Hispanic community since “we know that our Hillary’s no quitter.”
Tune into tonight’s debate to see if we adequately dissected the Notorious’s Ten Crack Commandments with assistance of the Hamilton twosome.
