Lookbook: Michael Bastian Previews GANT Fall 2013 Collection
If you're looking to add some sophisticated steez to your wardrobe, then take notice of the new GANT by Michael Bastian Fall 2013 collection.
Bastian drew inspiration for these pieces from two sources: the work of American illustrator, Norman Rockwell, and his hometown of Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The collection stands as a recreation of Rockwell’s style of humor, emotion and everyday experiences. Bastian says of the collection, “These are the types of things a guy can wear every day. I love this collection. Like Rockwell’s work, it is full of good, American things.”
The presentation for the collection took place on Monday, January 28th and Tuesday, January 29th at The Art Student League in Manhattan—where Rockwell was once a student. Bastian took complete advantage of the artsy atmosphere, using paint-splattered easels and stools to display the collection and using current students from the League to sketch and paint models wearing key looks. The artwork created at the presentation will be put to good use in GANT’s New York City stores to celebrate the launch of the collection this Fall.
As far as the pieces themselves, close attention to fabrics and color is the key element. Chino cotton and Shetland wool pair with army beiges, oatmeal mélanges, and whale greys to make crisp, yet subtle styles.
