Melanie Fiona Lights Up The Gramercy Theatre
If you've never seen a live performance from Toronto native Melanie Fiona, it should be a top bullet on your 2013 resolution list.
The now Brooklyn-dwelling songbird hit the stage at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City Saturday (Dec. 22), catering to an intimate crowd of couples and soul enthusiasts.
While prancing around in leather Louboutin heels (which she later claims are "so comfortable"), Fiona kicked the show into high-gear with uptempo hits "Give It To Me Right," "Ay Yo" and "Bang Bang." However, it was her staple heartbreak anthems that had women in the crowd screaming for the Holy Ghost. The Grammy Award winner--who's also up for Best Traditional R&B Performance in next year's Grammys ceremony for "Wrong Side of a Love Song"--served up emotional renditions of her Cee Lo Green-assisted "Fool For You," "It Kills Me" among others from her sophomore LP The MF Life. She even put her east coast swag on display with an 'MF' fitted cap and a self-made rap verse for her single "Runnin'" which features Nas. Melanie then closed her set in a timely manner with "4AM."
