Take A First Look At Nate Parker's Nat Turner Film 'The Birth Of A Nation'

Nate Parker acts as writer, director and star for the highly anticipated film The Birth of A Nation, which chronicles Nat Turner's led slave rebellion.

Nate Parker acts as writer, director and star for the highly anticipated film The Birth of A Nation.

Slated to make it's debut at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, Parker, who started opposite Gugu-Mbatha Raw in Beyond The Lights, plays Nat Turner a literate slave and preacher who's financial strained slave master agrees to use Turner's preaching to quell unruly slaves. Seeing the destruction that occurs, Turner then devises a plan to lead his slaves and people to freedom during the thick of the antebellum south.

Starring alongside Parker is Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, Gabrielle Union, and Mark Boone Jr.

While there is no official trailer just yet, check out the stills from the movie have been released online above.
