Obama Attends Hip-Hop ‘Hamilton’ Broadway Show Starring Lin-Manuel Miranda

July 20, 2015 - 9:07 pm by Marjua Estevez TWITTER

The POTUS shuts down Times Square.

Barack Obama proves yet again why he’s not a regular president, he’s a cool president. He and his equally hip daughters Malia and Sasha went to see Hamilton, a hip-hop rendition of Alexander Hamilton’s life written by Tony Award-winning composer and star actor, Lin-Manuel Miranda (see In The Heights). The show is comprised of a largely black and Latino cast, and even features a rap battle between Thomas Jefferson and Hamilton.

Attendees were psyched to see the POTUS among mere mortals and snapped their best fuzzy pictures of him before security could notice. Lin-Manuel, who was just as excited, shared a video of the three actresses who play the Schuyler Sisters singing about performing for the prez. One word: LOL.

Speaking with the New York Times, the Puerto Rican scribe described the occasion as surreal. “It was a real kick to see the first three presidents of the United States onstage while sitting with the current president,” he said. “He’s in that line.”
