Police Fatally Shoot Unarmed St. Louis Teen 10 Times, Social Media Community Reacts
Another day has passed on by, and another black life has been snatched away by the very people hired to protect and serve them.
Yesterday (Aug. 9) around noon, 18-year old Michael Brown was left lifeless in the middle of a street in Canfield Green Apartment Complex after a police officer fatally opened fire on him. The teen was unarmed with his hands in the air when he was reportedly shot multiple times in his head and chest by the Ferguson, Missouri cop.
Witnesses are reporting that Brown was shot once by the officer and then an additional nine times as he lie in the street, however police have not as yet confirmed this account. Brown was looking forward to starting college.
Tensions are high within the St. Louis suburb. The community congregated on Coppercreek Road to grieve, voice strong concerns and seek answers as to why Brown was killed. According to News 4's Cory Stark, they were, in turn, met with at least 100 additional officers from 15 departments and riot control squads armed with tanks, shotguns and police dogs.
Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson told local news outlets that St. Louis County Police are currently investigating the shooting and the undisclosed officer who fatally shot Brown has since been placed on administrative leave.
