Show Review: Bingo Players “Rattle & Roll” The Crowds Of NYC

October 21, 2013 - 3:45 pm by Dino Genzano

Just one day after news broke that Roseland Ballroom in NYC will shut its doors next April, the historic venue played host to a sold out crowd this past Saturday night for the Bingo Players' eight stop on their “Rattle & Roll” North American tour. For those who could not attend, the concert was also being streamed live online courtesy of THUMP.

Noticeably absent from this tour was Paul Bäumer, one half of the Bingo Players, who was diagnosed with cancer this past July. #PrayForPaul.

While Paul is receiving medical treatment he has been dedicating time to help run the duo's Hysteria record label which was on grand display tonight.

Supporting the Bingo Players on the show were label mates DJ MAKJ and fellow Dutch DJs, Carl Tricks and The Bassjackers.

MAKJ did an excellent job of getting everyone amped up by playing current hot tracks like Zedd's "Stay the Night" and mixing in a number of rock hits such as "We Will Rock You" and "Paradise City."

The baton was then passed to The Bassjackers who took the stage at 11 p.m. and Marlon Flohr proceeded to rock the crowd with heavy & hard hitting bass lines. He mixed in music from Icona Pop and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as buildups before hitting them with big bass drops.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Maarten Hoogstraten of the Bingo Players hit the decks solo and made sure to blast their hits such as "L'Amour," "Cry Just A Little" and "Rattle" during his 90-minute electro-house set.

One of the highlights was Maarten playing his mashup of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Animals" by Martin Garrix. There was also a new stage setup for this tour built off the Hysteria Records logo with stereo/subwoofer designs all over.

The stage set featured built in laser lights projecting throughout the arena that changed colors, direction, speed, and thickness which along with the music helped create a multi-sensory experience.

As the clock drew close to 2 a.m., Maarten thanked everyone for coming out and exited the stage but the crowd wasn't ready to let the night end just yet...

Most people in attendance had waited outside in the rain for two hours to get in, and once they did they kept their adrenaline pumping as they danced and jumped their way through 4+ hours of high energy sets.

The crowd began chanting "one more song!" and Maarten came out to grant them the encore they wanted with a second serving of "Rattle." More Photos In This Gallery >>>>>

The crowd responded by collectively throwing their arms up and bouncing hard one more time in appreciation and celebration of their fun night. Click through the rest of the photos to catch the full experience. ->
