T.R.O.Y: The 5 Greatest Mobb Deep Moments Since Prodigy's Release From Prison

April 9, 2012 - 7:46 pm by VIBE

Merely hours ago, rap duo Mobb Deep's future came to a screeching halt when Havoc went to Twitter and publicly, for lack of words we rather not use, 'bashed' Prodigy in a series of tweets. While initially we figured it was just a case of Twitter hacking, MTV News' own Sway texted Havoc himself and confirmed reports, according to radio personality Devi Dev.

What exactly happened? While we still wait on the details, we decided to compile a list that maybe will remind the two of better times—hopefully reuniting the two and not ruining one of the best things to happen to hip-hop.—Keenan Higgins

1. The "Black Cocaine" EP

This was the first official music release from the duo after Prodigy's three-year prison term. The 7 cuts off the EP showed lots of promise for a staggering eastcoast hip-hop scene, and got us excited for another studio album. Here's "Black Cocaine," the title track from the EP:[videoembed size="full_width" alignment="center"][/videoembed]

The autobiography was definitely a page turner. Havoc was supportive of Prodigy's book, even co-signing on it in the video below. Get More: Music News

Both Prodigy and Havoc tore down the stage that night, giving fans a live mix of their greatest hits throughout the years. They also brought out a few guests, like Raekwon for "Eye For An Eye (Your Beef Is Mines)" and Lil' Kim for their famous collabo "Quiet Storm (Remix)" [seen below]. 4. Performing At Rock The Bells 2011

Seen to most as the 'real' Summer Jam, Rock The Bells 2011 saw Mobb Deep controlling the '36 Chambers Stage' well into the night. VIBE was there, and trust us when we tell you it was a dope show. Hopefully there will be more in the future—we really hope. Here performing "Shook Ones, Pt. 2" live:  [videoembed size="full_width" alignment="center"][/videoembed]

5. "Dog Shit" Featuring Nas

"Dog Shit" is one of those classic NY street anthems Mobb Deep is known for. Assisted by frequent collaborator and Queens neighbor Nas, this is one of the main reasons why Mobb Deep need to squash the beef and get back to the music.  [videoembed size="full_width" alignment="center"][/videoembed]
