Black Twitter Didn't Take Too Kindly To The "White Girls Are Magic" Hashtag
"We have the entirety of the media telling us this. You don't need to steal a hashtag from the black community. #whitegirlsaremagic"
Black Twitter has been beside itself since the hashtag "white girls are magic" populated over the weekend.
The hashtag, which derives from the popular "black girls are magic" hashtag surfaced online Friday with users contributing to it with photos of white women, as well as derogatory and racial slurs directed at black women and other women of color.
In true black Twitter fashion, many voiced their opinion of the hashtag, calling it preposterous, another example of cultural appropriation and unnecessary, because mainstream media affirms white women's beauty regularly.
"#whitegirlsmagic is a pointless hashtag. White women are already the standard of "beauty" in society. Ok. We get it." one user Tweeted.
